Rahul Ties Knot With Shweta

Late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul tied the Wedding knot with his longtime girlfriend, Delhi based pilot Shweta Singh,at a simple ceremony at a Worli banquet hall on Tuesday. The function was attended by several prominent personalities including BJP leader LK Advani, Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar, chief minister Vilasrao deshmukh,deputy chief minister RR Patil, Shiv sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray,MNS president Raj Thackeray, PWD minister Chagan Bhujbal, aviation minister Praful Patel, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah,Uttarpradesh BJP leader Kalraj Mishra and industrialists Anil Ambani and Rahul Bajaj.

BJP leaders Venkaiah Naidu, Ananth kumar, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and actress-turned-politician Smriti Irani were also present at the function, which was not open to the media. Rahul's uncle and senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde played host alongwith rahul's mother Rekha Mahajan.

‘Mangalashtakas' were recited at the beginning of the ceremony, family sources said. No elaborate arrangements were made for the wedding in view of Pramod Mahajan's recent death. He was shot on April 22,2006 at his Worli flat by his younger brother Pravin and died two weeks later. No one from Pravin's family was invited for the wedding. Even before the killing, relations between Pramod and Pravin were strained despite the fact that tht BJP leader used to financially support his brother's family.
